Natuzzi Chair Body Perspiration
Here we had a natuzzi recliner chair which was part of a set which was suffering with body perspiration on the headrest of the chair, when body perspiration sets in to starts to cause damage to the leather dye, this either causes staining or leather peel depending on the leather type.
This was a pigment leather hide which the damage was leather peel, the damage can show as small as a pea but the damage is much larger in size. The back panel was deep cleaned to remove any dirt or debris.
We then apply a leather degreaser this removes the build up of the grease that is soaked in to the leather, this generally has to be applied several times to remove the build up, in this case like in many the area of damage of the area looks far worse before it starts to look better.
The area is then prepped using a solvent leather prep this removes the manufactures finish which allows our leather dyes to adhere to the leather, we start by apply a base coat of leather dye by hand making sure the dye reaches the grain, we then apply several thin coats using a air brush which gives a nice even coverage leaving for a nice repair.
With the leather showing a slight ring where the leather has peeled we apply a few coats of spray grain this covers overs the ring area blending in the repair so there is no visual signs on the repair, we the re apply a few more coats of leather dye.
Once cured we apply three coats of top coat lacquer due to the damage being body perspiration we apply a solvent top coat this is a lot more harder wearing than the waterbed dye
Please find before, durning and after pictures to show the great results.
It is imperative that ongoing maintenance is carried out on the furniture to prevent further damage to the leather, the damage caused is a maintenance issues and not a manufacturing issue.
